Common Education Data Improves Postsecondary Outcomes

The Common Education Data Standards (CEDS) is a P-20W (preschool through workforce) data management initiative that includes a data standard and tools to help education stakeholders at the local, state and federal level manage and use education data.
Since 2020, 116 public and private postsecondary institutions, postsecondary organizations (e.g., SHEEO, AIR), P-20W solution providers and states joined forces together to refine and advance Postsecondary data elements that have been a part of CEDS since 2012. The updates made by this working group expanded the CEDS postsecondary and workforce domains, identified and operationalized priority use cases for research, and developed best practices for sharing data between researchers and state education agencies. The CEDS team has also teamed up with IHEP to explore the benefits of CEDS for the student-level postsecondary data system proposed in the College Transparency Act.
In this webinar, participants will learn about why they should consider engaging with CEDS, the free resources (including a P-20W data system and data reporting system) available through CEDS, and how their agencies can get involved.
As a result of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Understand what the Common Education Data Standards (CEDS) is and how using CEDS and its free tools will benefit their agency.
- Understand how staff at their agency can get involved and why their input is valuable.
- Communicate to their staff how CEDS can benefit the agency and how to get involved in the CEDS Community.
