Resources
The Board of Directors is the governing body of the association. It acts as the membership’s voice by soliciting member input and using it to make important decisions. The Nominations & Elections Committee (NEC) not only recruits members to serve as leaders, but also develops the call for nominees and reviews nominations to develop a balanced slate of candidates.
The resources below provide information on AIR's leadership and governance policies. Please review the Leadership Opportunities Guide for any questions regarding candidate criteria, time commitments, and AIR’s governance system.
Positions
The NEC develops a slate of candidates consisting of at least two individuals for each open position (shown below). An election is held annually with the winning candidates taking office at the AIR Forum. The Vice President and Board Members-At-Large serve three-year terms while NEC members serve two-year terms and three members are elected annually.
Vice President
The Vice President serves as vice chairperson of the Board of Directors and represents the President when the latter is unable to perform their duties. The Vice President succeeds to the office of President at the termination of the one-year term as Vice President. The term of office is three years: one as Vice President, one as President, and the third as Immediate Past President/NEC Chair.
